The newest exhibit at the Claybelt Museum focuses on the history of dairy in the Temiskaming District. Did you know:
there were 7 creameries in the district at one point in time
butter production in 1965 was 1,158,131 pounds
Eplett's Ice Cream sold ice cream cones for 5 cents each in 1915
Thornloe Cheese has been producing cheese since 1940
during WWII, Thornloe had to roll cheese wheels down an inked bar to stamp the cheese for export to Britain.
